How Do You Transplant a Cannabis Clone?

Transplant a cannabis clone once you see healthy white roots emerging from the plug, moving it into a 1-gallon container first rather than jumping straight to a large pot. Water it in, keep humidity up for a day, and avoid disturbing the root ball.

Timing matters more than technique. Wait for white roots and new growth before potting up - see how long cannabis clones take to root. Too early tears immature roots; too late and the clone gets rootbound.

Step up gradually. A small clone goes into a 1-gallon pot, then a 3 to 5 gallon once it fills out. Skipping straight to a big container holds too much water and invites root rot.

Handle the root ball gently. Pre-moisten the new medium, make a hole, set the plug in at the same depth, and firm lightly without packing the soil hard.

Ease the stress. Water in with a light feed, keep humidity around 60 to 70 percent for a day, and hold off on intense light until the plant perks up - the same gentle approach used when you first care for clones on arrival.
